PART 2
The Bride
And
The Sabbath!
You might be thinking, “I believe Yeshua is the Messiah and I will be His Bride, I’m good to go.”
Well, we certainly need to believe Yeshua is the Messiah but to call Him ‘Master’ implies your willful subjection to His ways and one of His ways is to keep His 7th Day Sabbath. Allow me to rework a section of another article I wrote to underscore the point.
“In the year 2014 we live in a day of expectation that our Messiah and Redeemer will soon return for His Bride. I believe today is also a day of restoration, a time of calendar restoration. That calendar restoration is not yet complete but old truths are slowly being recovered and that is what this article is all about.
Remember ‘the Sabbath Day’, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But ‘the Seventh Day’ is a Sabbath to the LORD your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested ‘the Seventh Day’; therefore the LORD blessed ‘the Sabbath Day’ and consecrated it. (Exodus 20:8-11 NRSV Emphasis mine)
Did you see Saturday in there anywhere?
Six days you shall do your work, but on ‘the Seventh Day’ you shall rest, so that your ox and your donkey may have relief, and your homeborn slave and the resident alien may be refreshed. Be attentive to all that I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips. (Exodus 23:12-13 NRSV Emphasis mine)
Did you know every day of the week on the modern Gregorian Calendar is named after a pagan god and ‘Saturn’s Day’ is what we now call ‘Saturday’? Here are the names of ‘the original’ pagan planetary god weekdays of the Julian Calendar adopted by Rome in the 1st Century 'AFTER' the crucifixion of Messiah.
The 1st Day of the week was Saturday, also known as SATURN’S Day!
The 2nd Day of the week was Sunday, also known as SUN’S Day!
The 3rd Day of the week was Monday, also known as MOON’S Day!
The 4th Day of the week was Tuesday, also known as TISCO’S Day! (Mars)
The 5th Day of the week was Wednesday, also known as WODEN’S Day! (Mercury)
The 6th Day of the week was Thursday, also known as THOR’S Day! (Jupiter)
The 7th Day of the week was Friday, also known as FRIGA’S Day! (Venus)
“Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.”
Most assuredly the Creator and Redeemer does not share the esteem of His 7th Day Sabbath with a pagan planetary god. Does He? Surely not! Neither Friday, Saturday nor Sunday is the set-apart (Holy) 7th Day Sabbath of The Most High. Please notice Saturday is the 1st Day of the week and Sunday is the 2nd Day of the week!
Six days shall work be done, but ‘the Seventh Day’ is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD; whoever does any work on ‘the Sabbath Day’ shall be put to death. Therefore the Israelites shall keep ‘the Sabbath’, observing ‘the Sabbath’ throughout their generations, as ‘a perpetual covenant’. It is ‘a sign’ forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on ‘the Seventh Day’ he rested, and was refreshed. (Exodus 31:15-17 NRSV Emphasis mine)
I use the verses above to stress to you the seriousness of getting the calendar of YHWH right. Our Abba and His Son, our Messiah, Redeemer and soon coming King is an El of Covenant and in the verses above He is letting us know there is a perpetual covenant which is a sign forever between Him and His people. Obviously there is a calendar aspect to that covenant; the correct 7th Day Sabbath is ‘a sign’ from The 10 Words Covenant, which identifies the Bride of The New Covenant who carries the mark of ‘the sign’, a circumcised heart! It is a covenant that enables a covenant! The Bride of Messiah will have accepted the terms of The New Covenant and keep those which she can keep such as the 7th Day Sabbath and long to keep those she presently can not such as the Annual Appointed Times. The Bride of Messiah will not have been so presumptuous as to believe the 7th Day Sabbath of her Bridegroom has anything to do with the seventh day of a pagan planetary god calendar from the Roman Catholic Church. The Bride of Messiah will have dug deep for her Bridegroom’s treasure of the true Seventh Day Rest, the Sabbath of Creation. Indeed, she will retreat to this precious ‘Sanctuary in Time’ and rest in Him! In discovering the true 7th Day Sabbath The Bride of Messiah will have come to understand that none of the mechanisms of the original Timepiece of Heaven can be ignored, not The New Moons or The New Year, they are critical mechanisms necessary in discerning the true 7th Day Sabbath and the Annual Appointed Times. I must emphasize that point! The Clock Tower of Big Ben in London, England requires every gear in its clock to fulfill its designed purpose, which is to tell time. Remove a gear from The Clock Tower of Big Ben or replace a gear with one that was not designed to fulfill the proper function and it will no longer operate as a marker of time. It is no different with ‘THE MASTER’S CLOCK’, every mechanism is required to tell time, you can not discern the true 7th Day Sabbath without the mechanisms required to establish The New Moon, i.e. the Sun and Moon, nor can you discern the Annual Appointed Times without the required mechanisms to establish The New Year, i.e. the Sun and Moon. I cannot begin to tell you how many people have responded to these calendar issues with this statement,
“I’ll sure be glad when Messiah comes, He’ll straighten this all out when He gets here!”
Oh indeed, He most certainly will! And then He will take His Bride who has labored to know these truths to His Bridal Chamber leaving the multitudes of so called believers outside knocking on His door to come in, only to hear Him say, “Depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness, I never knew you!”
There are millions, maybe even billions of people who love Yeshua (Jesus) but never open their bible… there are many who love Yeshua and study their bible exhaustively, but presumptuously, and rarely make any application and then… there are those few who love Yeshua, study their bibles and dare to ask the question “Why?”
These few are not content with ‘pat answers’ but are willing to dig deep to search for truths that are hidden from the multitudes. When these few of whom I speak discover new understanding they make the application to their lives. These few are not afraid to look in the mirror and ask of themselves, "Am I in or out?" I am convinced the number of people who become the Bride of Messiah will be few, at least percentage wise. She will be of those who have prepared in ‘the hope’ of being chosen rather than ‘the presumption’ of being chosen! If you are one of those who is not content with surface knowledge or the status quo of traditional thinking and desire a more intimate relationship with The Bridegroom by learning more about how to know when the ‘7th Day Sabbaths of Yeshua’ occur which is totally dependent upon the New Moon then this article has been written for you!”
Isn’t it somewhat ironic that it is freely admitted that mankind has completely lost track of the years since the beginning of creation but implacably demand that we know beyond a shadow of doubt exactly what day of the week it is and therefore which day is the Sabbath! Without so much as a moment’s hesitation leaders within the faith are willing to look you in the eye and proclaim that mankind has never lost track of the unbroken chain of weekly cycles that extend approximately 6000 years back to the beginning of creation and that the 7th Day Saturday of the RCC calendar is the 7th Day Sabbath of Yeshua! Aren’t years easier to keep track of than days? After all there are 360/365 times as many days as there are years! Get on the web and ask the question, “When was the last Jubilee year?” What you’ll get is a plethora of different opinions. No one knows for absolute certain! Should we be surprised?
It is incongruous to think time has not been lost when YHWH Himself tells Moses in Exodus 12,
And YHWH spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon in the land of Mitsrayim, saying, “This month is the beginning of months for you, it is the first month of the year for you.” (Exodus 12:1-2 Scriptures ’98)
What was YHWH doing here if not restoring a lost calendar? Isn’t it clear that Israel compromised their methods of keeping time to adopt the calendar of Egypt? Were Egypt’s months the same as YHWH’s months? Prophetically speaking this passage is intriguing in that if we are on the verge of returning to the Promised Land via the future Greater Exodus then it would be totally appropriate to think we are due for a calendar restoration once again! There can be no doubt that the calendar of YHWH had been lost and it is here that YHWH restores His calendar. But this then begs the question, “Has Israel been able to maintain the true calendar of YHWH through the exiles that have taken place since leaving Egypt?” Maybe they did, it would seem they would surely have been keeping the true calendar of YHWH ‘in Israel’ at the time of Messiah Yeshua’s visitation, but what about since then?
Hasn’t YHWH spoken about this?
He has broken down his booth like a garden, he has destroyed his tabernacle; the LORD has abolished in Zion festival and sabbath, and in his fierce indignation has spurned king and priest. (Lamentations 2:6 NRSV)
I will put an end to all her mirth, her festivals, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her appointed festivals. (Hosea 2:11 NRSV)
Clearly, YHWH, at some point in time, has taken His New Moons, Sabbaths and Moedim from both the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel. When did YHWH destroy His tabernacle? Didn't that happen in 70 A.D. approximately 40 years 'AFTER' the death and resurrection of Messiah Yeshua? So why do we ASSUME the Jews of today are keeping the true 7th Day of YHWH? Didn’t the Jews quit ‘looking up’ thereby abandoning THE MASTER’S CLOCK, which operates in the heavens, in favor of ‘looking down’ at Hillel II’s calculated calendar in the 4th Century?
How could YHWH have taken away Israel’s New Moons, Sabbaths and all her appointed festivals if the method of marking them was clearly and unequivocally documented in Scripture? The obvious answer to that question is that He couldn’t, at least not without adding a good dose of delusion. As long as mankind has the Word of YHWH and if the Word of YHWH clearly and unequivocally documented the method of marking the New Moons, Sabbaths and Moedim then all we would have to do is open the Word and recover the New Moons, Sabbaths and Appointed Times of YHWH once He had taken them away! But that dear Brothers and Sisters IS NOT the case! You can search the Scriptures from cover to cover and you will not find a clearly and unequivocally enunciated method for marking the New Year, the New Month or the New Week! We even argue over the beginning of the Day!
The Jews today are keeping two calendars and neither of them is correct! They are keeping Hillel II’s calculated calendar with its postponement rules. In so doing the Scriptural method of observing the Sun, Moon and Stars is replaced with mathematical calculations to mark the New Moons (obviously incorrect) but then Hillel II went even further astray and fixed the Jew’s weeks to the Roman Julian Calendar (the forerunner to today’s Gregorian Calendar) to mark the Sabbaths creating an unbroken chain of 7 day weekly cycles for the Jews and thereby disconnecting the week from the New Moon (also obviously incorrect) which then demanded the postponement rules! Did Hillel II do this to help the Jews avoid persecution from the Roman Empire or to maintain an element of control over the Jewish people even after the demise of the Sanhedrin which was sure to come? Or both? And does it even matter? The fact is this is not the method of marking time according to YHWH! THE MASTER’S CLOCK is found in the heavens. And even though ‘the method’ of marking time according to THE MASTER’S CLOCK is not clearly and unequivocally enunciated in the Scriptures does that mean that it is not buried in the Scriptures waiting there to be recovered by those who have been filled with the Ruach HaQodesh, have realized THE HUGE ASSUMPTION and who are willing to do a little digging to find ‘the method’? Is it possible to discern with any degree of certainty what does constitute the beginning of the years, months and weeks according to the mechanisms YHWH has placed in the heavens, i.e. the Sun, Moon and Stars?
If not, then how are we to keep the 4th Commandment of ‘The 10 Words Covenant’?
If not, then how can anyone hope to become the Bride of Messiah?
If not, then maybe we should return to Sunday observance?
Does it even matter?
What does Scripture say?
Does Scripture say enough that we might be able to infer certain details of ‘the method’ in discerning the use of THE MASTER’S CLOCK?
