THE MASTER’S CLOCK!

Discerning The True 7th Day Sabbath of Yeshua!

PART 15

The Seven-Day

March of Joshua!

I will finish this Scriptural survey with a quick note on a very well known portion of Scriptural history, the story of Joshua and the Israelites marching around Jericho.

And Yeriho was shut up tight because of the presence of the sons of Yisra’el – none going out, and none coming in. And YHWH said to Yehoshua, “See! I have given Yeriho and its sovereign, mighty brave men, into your hand. “And you shall go around the city, all the men of battle going around the city once. Do this for six days. “And let seven priests bear seven rams’ horns before the ark, and on the seventh day go around the city seven times while the priests blow the horns. And it shall be, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the horn, that all the people shout with a great shout. And the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.” And Yehoshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven rams’ horns before the ark of YHWH.” And he said to the people, “Pass over, and go around the city, and let him who is armed pass over before the ark of YHWH.” And it came to be, when Yehoshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven rams’ horns before YHWH passed over and blew the horns, and the ark of the covenant of YHWH went after them. And the armed men went before the priests who blew the horns, and the rear guard came after the ark, going on and blowing the horns. And the armed men went before the priests who blew the horns, and the rear guard came after the ark, going on and blowing the horns. But Yehoshua had commanded the people, saying, “Do not shout or cause your voice to be heard, nor let any word come out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.” And the ark of YHWH went around the city, going around once. And they came into the camp and stayed in the camp. And Yehoshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of YHWH. And seven priests bearing seven rams’ horns before the ark of YHWH were walking, going on, and they blew the horns, and the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of YHWH, going on, and blowing the horns. And the second day they went around the city once and returned to the camp. Thus they did six daysAnd it came to be on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and went around the city seven times in this way. Only on that day they went around the city seven times. And it came to be at the seventh time, when the priests blew the horns, that Yehoshua said to the people, “Shout, for YHWH has given you the city! “And the city shall be put under the ban, it and all that is in it belongs to YHWH. Only Rahab the whore is to live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. “And you, by all means guard yourselves from that which is under the ban, lest you come under the ban when you take of that which is under the ban, and make the camp of Yisra’el a curse, and shall trouble it. “But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are set-apart to YHWH, they go into the treasury of YHWH.” And the people shouted when the priests blew the horns. And it came to be when the people heard the sound of the horn, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. And the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city. And they put under the ban all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword… And they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron, they put into the treasury of the House of YHWH. (Joshua 6:1-21, 24 Scriptures ’98)

For six days straight Joshua and all the men of battle marched around the city of Jericho once each day. On the very next day, i.e. the seventh 'uninterrupted' day, they once again marched around the city of Jericho but on this day they marched around Jericho seven times with priests blowing seven ram horns and when the priests blew a long blast on the ram horns everyone shouted a loud shout and the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. They then slaughtered every living thing with the sword and razed the city. That sounds like a lot of work!

Question: Joshua, all of Israel’s men of battle and the priests marched around Jericho for seven straight days 'during the daylight hours', which one of those days was the Sabbath of YHWH?

Does this seem to be a bit of a conundrum?

Here is a picture of what all Lunar Sabbath Months of the Year look like, use it to solve the riddle above. I’ve stacked 4 Months in a row for you to see the progression from one month to another, but you only need to look at and consider the 2nd Month. Notice that every month is identical to all other months, they never change! The shear beauty, functionality and simplicity of YHWH’s Lunar Sabbath Month is breathtaking!

1st Lunar Sabbath Month
2nd Lunar Sabbath Month
3rd Lunar Sabbath Month
4th Lunar Sabbath Month

Here is a clue…

Remember the three categories of monthly days in the Lunar Sabbath Month.

  • 1 ~ Chodesh - Rosh Chodesh...

  • 2 ~ 6 Work Days...

  • 3 ~ Weekly Sabbath...

Did you figure the riddle out? Joshua, the men of battle and the priests began their march around Jericho on Rosh Chodesh, the 1st Day of the Month and continued their march until the 7th Day of the Month, which is only the 6th Day of the Week on the Lunar Sabbath Month. Rosh Chodesh plus 6 workdays makeup the 7 days of marching without there being a Sabbath involved! The day ‘after’ the walls of Jericho fell would have been the 1st Sabbath of the Month, i.e. the 8th Day of the 2nd Month!

This is confirmed for us in The Book of Jasher.

And it was in the second month, on the first day of the month, that the Lord said to Joshua, Rise up, behold I have given Jericho into thy hand with all the people thereof; and all your fighting men shall go round the city, once each day, thus shall you do for six days. (Jasher 88:14)

It should of course be noted that The Book of Jasher is not of the widely accepted cannon of Scripture but this little detail it provides helps us to see how Joshua and the Israelites marched around Jericho for seven straight days without violating the weekly Sabbath!
